Our History

November 2023

KMTC awarded LINCZ project by GAC

KMTC, a non-profit organisation focused on food security and livelihoods and Conservation Agriculture, has been awarded a project titled "Locally Led Indigenous Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation". The significance of this project cannot be overstated, as Binga district – the primary area of KMTC's operations – continues to bear the brunt of the adverse impacts of climate change.

August 2014

KMTC initiates intensified CA promotion in Binga district

Under the auspices of the Canadian Food Grains Bank (CFGB) and the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), KMTC managed to commence the implementation of conservation agriculture in Binga district in 2014. The project was initiated in response to the fact that Binga district receives erratic and unevenly distributed rainfall, thereby necessitating the adoption of water and nutrition conservation strategies.

This project pioneered the use of Green Manure Cover Crops, such as Lab Lab and Mucuna, in integrated soil fertility management as well as moisture conservation. These cover crops play a crucial role in improving soil health, enhancing nutrient availability, and conserving moisture, all of which are vital for sustainable agricultural practices in the district.

Empowering Farmers, Transforming Lives

In the face of increasingly unpredictable weather patterns and environmental challenges, KMTC is dedicated to equipping smallholder farmers with the skills, resources, and support they need to not just survive, but thrive. By collaborating closely with local communities, we are able to develop context-specific solutions that address their unique needs and priorities.

Join us in our mission to cultivate climate resilience, nourish vulnerable families, and build a more equitable, food-secure future for all.
